Our Story and Mission

Building financial confidence across generations in Liverpool

Where We Started

dimfjord began in 2019 when three financial educators recognized a critical gap. Despite Liverpool's rich history and vibrant community, financial literacy remained an afterthought in most educational settings. Children graduated without understanding compound interest. Adults navigated major life decisions with limited money management skills.

We believed this needed to change. Not through abstract theory, but through practical, accessible education that respects people's time and intelligence.

What Drives Us

Financial stress affects mental health, relationships, and life opportunities. Yet most financial anxiety stems from knowledge gaps rather than income levels. Understanding how money works transforms decision-making at every income bracket.

Our courses focus on actionable skills: building emergency funds, understanding investment vehicles, teaching children healthy money relationships, planning for retirement with clarity. These aren't privileged concerns. They're universal needs that deserve universal education.

Our Approach

We reject the one-size-fits-all model. An eight-year-old learning to save needs different tools than a fifty-year-old planning retirement. Our curriculum adapts to life stage, learning style, and goals.

Evening sessions accommodate working schedules. Weekend workshops fit family routines. Our instructors bring diverse backgrounds: former bankers, small business owners, investment advisors, educators. This variety ensures students see multiple perspectives on financial strategies.

Community Connection

Liverpool shapes our teaching. We understand regional economic realities, local employment patterns, and the specific financial challenges facing families here. Course examples reference situations our students actually face, not generic scenarios from textbooks written elsewhere.

Many of our students progress from learners to informal educators themselves, sharing knowledge within their families and communities. This ripple effect extends our mission beyond classroom walls.

Looking Forward

Financial education evolves as economic landscapes shift. We continuously update our curriculum to address emerging topics: cryptocurrency basics, gig economy planning, sustainable investing, digital banking security.

Our goal remains constant: empowering Liverpool residents with the financial knowledge they need to build the futures they want.
